05/13/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jered Weaver hopes to bounce back from one of the worst starts in his career this evening when the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim resume their four-game series with the Chicago White Sox at Angel Stadium.
Weaver lost his second straight start on Wednesday against Kansas City, which battered him for eight runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 frames. The loss was his fourth in the last five decisions and dropped him to 2-5 on the season, while ballooning his earned run average to 5.59.
Over his last two starts, Weaver has given up 12 runs and 16 hits in 10 1/3 frames.
The 25-year-old righty, though, has been incredible over the course of his young career against the Sox, going 2-0 and allowing just a run in 11 2/3 innings of his two starts.
The Angels snapped their season-long four-game losing streak in the opener of this set on Monday, as Vladimir Guerrero homered and drove in four runs, lifting Los Angeles to a 10-7 win. Garret Anderson was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Angels, while Gary Matthews Jr. and Erick Aybar both had two hits and drove in a run.
Nick Adenhart (1-0), making his third career start, gave up nine hits and four runs in 5 2/3 innings to earn his first major league win. Following the game, the club sent him back to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Mark Buehrle (1-5) took the loss after yielding eight runs -- six earned -- on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings for Chicago, which has dropped two straight.
Jermaine Dye finished 4-for-5 and scored two runs in his 1,500th career game, while Joe Crede went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI. Juan Uribe drove in two runs and A.J. Pierzynski doubled twice, scored twice and knocked in a run.
Getting the call for the Pale Hose tonight will be 23-year-old lefty John Danks, who is 3-3 with a 3.18 ERA. Danks snapped a two-start losing streak on Thursday against Minnesota, as he limited the Twins to two runs and six hits over five innings to run his record to 3-3 to go along with a 3.18 ERA.
Danks is 1-1 lifetime against the Angels with a 1.47 ERA in three starts.
Chicago won five of its nine matchups with the Angels last season and is 11-8 in the series since the start of the 2006 campaign, including wins in seven of its last 10 in Anaheim.
